  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix together the melted butter and sugar until well combined. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, and mix until smooth.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk. Mix until just combined.
  5. Fold in the diced pears.
  6. Spoon the batter into muffin cups, filling each about 2/3 full.
  7. Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Allow the muffins to cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
