Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.

In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.

In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, ground ginger, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just blended.

Peel, core, and thinly slice the pears. Arrange the pear slices in a single layer on the bottom of the prepared cake pan.

In a small bowl, combine the hazelnuts, brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and melted butter. Sprinkle the streusel mixture evenly over the pear slices.

Pour the cake batter over the pear slices and streusel topping, spreading it evenly.

Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.

Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
