  2. Shape the mixture into egg-shaped balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  3. Place the baking sheet in the refrigerator and let the peanut butter eggs chill for at least 1 hour.
  4. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the semi-sweet chocolate chips and vegetable shortening in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until smooth.
  5. Use a fork to dip each chilled peanut butter egg into the melted chocolate, allowing any excess chocolate to drip off.
  6. Place the coated peanut butter eggs back on the baking sheet and refrigerate until the chocolate is set.
  7. Once the chocolate is set, the peanut butter eggs are ready to serve.
