  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a small saucepan, melt the sugar over medium heat until it turns into a golden caramel.
  3. Carefully pour the caramel into a round baking dish and swirl it around to coat the bottom evenly.
  4. In a mixing bowl, whisk the eggs until well beaten.
  5. Add the sweetened condensed milk, milk, and vanilla extract to the bowl and whisk until combined.
  6. Pour the mixture over the caramel in the baking dish.
  7. Place the baking dish in a larger baking pan and fill the larger pan with hot water, creating a water bath.
  8. Bake for about 60 minutes or until the flan is set but still slightly jiggly in the center.
  9. Remove the baking dish from the water bath and let it cool to room temperature.
  10. Once cooled, cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
  11. To serve, run a knife around the edge of the flan to loosen it, then invert it onto a serving plate. The caramel sauce will flow over the top.
  12. Slice and serve chilled.
