  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch square baking pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix together the melted butter, granulated sugar, egg, and molasses. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Stir in the boiling water until the batter is smooth. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan.
  5. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. While the gingerbread is baking, prepare the molasses whipped cream. In a chilled mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream and powdered sugar until stiff peaks form.
  7. Once the gingerbread has cooled, cut into squares and serve with a dollop of molasses whipped cream.
