Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.

Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture and mix well.

Fold in the chocolate chips and chopped nuts.

Spread half of the batter into the prepared baking pan. Drizzle the caramel sauce over the batter. Top with the remaining batter.

Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
