Muenster cheese is named after the French city of Munster, but the cheese itself originated in the Alsace region of France.

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. In a bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
  3. Divide the meat mixture into 4 equal portions and shape them into patties.
  4. Grill the patties for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until cooked to your desired level of doneness.
  5. Place a slice of Muenster cheese on top of each patty and allow it to melt.
  6. Toast the hamburger buns in the oven for 2-3 minutes, until lightly golden.
  7. Assemble the burgers by placing a patty with melted cheese on the bottom half of each bun.
  8. Top with lettuce, tomato slices, red onion slices, and pickles.
  9. Spread ketchup and mustard on the top half of the buns.
  10. Place the top half of the bun on the assembled burger.
