Mounds Bars were introduced by the Peter Paul Candy Manufacturing Company in 1920 and were originally called ‘Mounds Chocolate-Covered Coconut Bars’.

  1. In a saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Add the sweetened condensed milk, vanilla extract, and salt. Stir until well combined.
  2. Remove from heat and stir in the shredded coconut and powdered sugar until fully incorporated.
  3. Press the mixture into a lined baking dish and refrigerate for 1 hour.
  4. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate chips in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until smooth.
  5. Pour the melted chocolate over the coconut mixture and spread evenly.
  6. Refrigerate for another 1 hour or until the chocolate is set.
  7. Cut into bars and serve.
