Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).

Peel and cut the sweet potatoes into 1-inch thick slices.

In a small saucepan, melt the butter and mix in the molasses, sage, salt, and black pepper.

Place the sweet potatoes in a baking dish and pour the molasses mixture over them.

Toss the sweet potatoes to coat them evenly.

Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes.

Remove the foil and sprinkle the pecans over the sweet potatoes.

Bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the sweet potatoes are tender and the pecans are toasted.
