Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease and flour a madeleine pan.

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.

In a large bowl, whisk together the sugar, melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and lemon zest.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.

Spoon the batter into the prepared madeleine pan, filling each mold about 3/4 full.

Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the madeleines are golden brown and spring back when lightly touched.

Remove from the oven and let cool in the pan for 2 minutes.

Transfer the madeleines to a wire rack and let cool completely.

Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
