Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease and flour the madeleine molds.

In a small bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.

In a separate large bowl, beat the eggs and granulated sugar until pale and fluffy.

Stir in the vanilla extract and lemon zest.

Gradually add the flour mixture to the egg mixture, alternating with the heavy cream, until just combined.

Melt the butter in a small saucepan over low heat. Gradually add the melted butter to the batter, stirring until smooth.

Spoon the batter into the prepared madeleine molds, filling each about 3/4 full.

Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden brown and the centers spring back when lightly touched.

Remove from the oven and let cool in the molds for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
