  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
  4. In a large bowl, cream the unsalted butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually mix in the mashed bananas.
  6. Add the dry ingredients to the banana mixture, alternating with the buttermilk. Stir in the chopped walnuts.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
  8. Bake for 60-65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
