Marble cake gets its name from the swirls of different colored batters that resemble the patterns of marble stone.

This is vegetarian recipe. Dish can be prepared in 90 minutes. Recipe requires some culinary experience (medium difficulty). Number of ingredients: 10.

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch (23cm) round cake pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk.
  6. In a small bowl, mix together the cocoa powder and hot water to form a smooth paste.
  7. Pour half of the cake batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly.
  8. Drop spoonfuls of the cocoa paste on top of the batter.
  9. Swirl the cocoa paste into the batter using a knife or skewer to create a marbled effect.
  10. Pour the remaining cake batter over the cocoa paste and smooth the top.
  11. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  12. Remove from the oven and let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes.
  13. Transfer the cake to a wire rack and let it cool completely.
  14. Serve and enjoy!
