Lemon bars are believed to have originated in the United States and are a popular dessert during the spring and summer months.

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the butter, 2 cups of flour, powdered sugar, and salt. Press the mixture into the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  3. Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes, or until golden.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, granulated sugar, lemon juice, lemon zest, and 4 tablespoons of flour. Pour this mixture over the baked crust.
  5. Return the dish to the oven and bake for an additional 20 minutes, or until the filling is set.
  6. Remove from the oven and let cool completely in the dish on a wire rack.
  7. Once cooled, dust with powdered sugar and cut into squares.
  8. Serve and enjoy!
