Knot rolls are also known as pretzel rolls due to their resemblance to pretzels. They are soft, fluffy, and make a delicious snack or accompaniment to a meal.

In a mixing bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.

In a large bowl, mix flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture, melted butter, and egg. Stir until the dough comes together.

Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a rope and tie it into a knot.

Place the knot rolls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cover with a damp cloth and let them rise for another 30 minutes.

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush the rolls with beaten egg and sprinkle sesame seeds on top.

Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.

Remove from the oven and let the knot rolls cool on a wire rack before serving.
