Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish.

Peel, core, and slice the apples. Place them in a large bowl and toss with lemon juice.

In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, oats, brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and salt.

Cut in the butter using a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Spread half of the oat mixture into the prepared baking dish. Top with the sliced apples.

Sprinkle the remaining oat mixture over the apples.

Bake for 40 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the topping is golden brown.

Let cool for 10 minutes before serving. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream, if desired.
