Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.

Cut in the butter using a pastry cutter or your fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Stir in the raisins.

Make a well in the center of the mixture and pour in the buttermilk.

Stir until the dough comes together.

Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead gently for about 1 minute.

Divide the dough into 4 equal portions and shape each portion into a round loaf.

Place the loaves on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Bake for 15-20 minutes or until the breads are golden brown and sound hollow when tapped on the bottom.
