Ice cream cake was first popularized in the United States in the 1950s and has since become a classic dessert for birthdays and special occasions.

Take a round cake pan and line it with plastic wrap.

Place a layer of chocolate cake at the bottom of the pan.

Spread a layer of vanilla ice cream on top of the cake.

Add another layer of chocolate cake on top of the ice cream.

Spread a layer of chocolate ice cream on top of the cake.

Repeat steps 3-5 until all the cake and ice cream layers are used.

Cover the pan with plastic wrap and freeze for at least 4 hours.

Once frozen, remove the cake from the pan and remove the plastic wrap.

Decorate the cake with whipped cream, cherries, and chocolate sauce.

Slice and serve immediately.
