  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, yeast, sugar, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice.
  2. In a small saucepan, heat the butter and milk until warm (about 110°F/43°C).
  3. Add the warm milk mixture and egg to the dry ingredients. Mix until a soft dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5 minutes, or until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  6. Punch down the dough and knead in the raisins.
  7. Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces and shape each piece into a ball.
  8. Place the balls on a greased baking sheet, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  9. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  10. In a small bowl, combine the powdered sugar, lemon juice, and water to make the glaze.
  11. Using a sharp knife, make a cross on top of each bun.
  12. Bake the buns for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
  13. Remove the buns from the oven and brush them with the glaze while still warm.
  14. Let the buns cool on a wire rack before serving.
