  1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  3. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan or fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil and fry until golden brown, turning once.
  6. Remove the donuts from the oil and let them drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
  7. In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar and water to make the glaze.
  8. Dip each donut into the glaze, coating both sides.
  9. Allow the glaze to set for a few minutes before serving.
