Cronuts were invented by pastry chef Dominique Ansel in New York City in 2013 and quickly became a viral sensation.

  1. In a large bowl, combine flour, instant yeast, sugar, and salt.
  2. Add butter, milk, and egg to the bowl and mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough for 5 minutes, then cover and let it rest for 1 hour.
  4. Roll out the dough to a thickness of 1/2 inch.
  5. Cut out circles using a donut cutter or a glass.
  6. Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan and fry the cronuts until golden brown.
  7. Drain the cronuts on a paper towel to remove excess oil.
  8. In a separate bowl, mix powdered sugar and vanilla extract to make the glaze.
  9. Dip the cronuts into the glaze and let them cool on a wire rack.
  10. Serve and enjoy!
