Pour the heavy cream into a jar with a tight-fitting lid.

Close the lid tightly and shake vigorously for about 10-15 minutes until the cream thickens and separates into butter and buttermilk.

Pour off the buttermilk and rinse the butter under cold water to remove any remaining buttermilk.

Sprinkle a pinch of salt over the butter and mix well.

Transfer the butter to a container and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.
