Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

Blanch the green beans in boiling water for 5 minutes, then transfer to an ice bath to cool. Drain and set aside.

In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the mushrooms, onion, and garlic. Cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

Sprinkle the flour over the vegetables and stir to combine. Cook for 1 minute.

Slowly whisk in the chicken broth and bring to a simmer. Cook until thickened, about 5 minutes.

Stir in the heavy cream, salt, and black pepper.

Add the green beans to the skillet and toss to coat in the sauce.

Transfer the mixture to a casserole dish and top with the French fried onions.

Bake for 30 minutes, or until bubbly and golden brown.
