  5. Drain the butternut squash and return it to the pot. Mash with a potato masher until smooth.
  6. Drain the green apples and add them to the pot with the mashed butternut squash.
  7. Add butter, salt, pepper, cinnamon, nutmeg, and brown sugar to the pot. Stir well to combine.
