Grandma’s Orange Rolls with Orange Cream Cheese Frosting

In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm water and let it sit for 5 minutes.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the yeast mixture, milk, sugar, melted butter, salt, egg, orange zest, and 2 cups of flour. Mix well.

Gradually add the remaining flour, 1/2 cup at a time, until the dough comes together.

Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes, until it becomes smooth and elastic.

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.

Punch down the dough and roll it out into a rectangle.

Spread softened butter over the dough and sprinkle it with sugar.

Roll up the dough tightly, starting from the long side.

Cut the dough into 12 equal slices and place them in a greased baking dish.

Cover the dish with a clean kitchen towel and let the rolls rise for another 30 minutes.

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

In a mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, orange juice, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
