In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, ginger, cinnamon, baking soda, and salt.

In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg, then stir in the molasses. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until just blended.

Shape dough into 1-inch balls, and roll them in the remaining sugar. Place the cookies 2 inches apart onto an ungreased cookie sheet.
