  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and brown sugar until smooth.
  3. Beat in the egg and molasses until well blended.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the butter mixture and mix well.
  5. Roll the dough into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter. Roll each ball in granulated sugar to coat.
  6. Place the coated dough balls onto ungreased baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the cookies have spread and the tops are cracked.
  8. Remove from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes. Then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
