Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

In a large bowl, cream together the butter and brown sugar until smooth.

Beat in the egg and molasses until well blended.

In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the butter mixture and mix well.

Roll the dough into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter. Roll each ball in granulated sugar to coat.

Place the coated dough balls onto ungreased baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the cookies have spread and the tops are cracked.

Remove from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes. Then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
