Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, baking soda, and salt.
  2. In a large bowl, beat the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add the molasses, egg, and vanilla extract, and mix until well combined.
  3. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Divide the dough into two equal portions, shape each portion into a disc, and wrap in plastic wrap. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  5. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  6. Roll out each portion of dough on a lightly floured surface to about 1/4 inch thickness. Use skeleton-shaped cookie cutters to cut out shapes and transfer them to the prepared baking sheets.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar and milk to make the icing. Drizzle the icing over the cooled gingerbread skeletons to decorate.
  9. Enjoy your spooky Gingerbread Skeletons!
