Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.

In a separate large bowl, cream together the butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Add the egg and molasses, mixing well.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk. Mix until just combined.

Divide the batter evenly among the cupcake liners, filling each about 2/3 full.

Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

While the cupcakes cool, prepare the cream cheese frosting. In a mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.

Once the cupcakes are completely cooled, frost with the cream cheese frosting.
