In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.

In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.

Gradually mix in the dry ingredients alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients.

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.

Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

While the cake is still warm, poke holes all over the top with a skewer or fork.

Slowly pour the maple syrup over the cake, allowing it to soak in.

Let the cake cool in the pan for 30 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
