Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear.

In a pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat.

Add the garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute.

Add the rice and salt, and stir to coat the rice in the oil.

Add the water and bring to a boil.

Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until the rice is cooked and the water is absorbed.

Remove from heat and let it rest for 5 minutes.
