In a large bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the mashed bananas and vanilla extract.

Gradually mix in the dry ingredients, alternating with the buttermilk. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan.

Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

In a separate bowl, beat together the cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy. Spread the frosting over the cooled cake.
