Strawberries are not actually berries, but rather an aggregate fruit!

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x9-inch baking dish.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, and salt. Cut in the unsalted butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. In a small bowl, beat the egg and vanilla extract together. Add the egg mixture to the flour mixture and mix until well combined.
  4. Press two-thirds of the mixture into the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  5. In another bowl, mix the strawberries, cornstarch, and powdered sugar until well coated. Spread the strawberry mixture evenly over the crust.
  6. Crumble the remaining flour mixture over the top of the strawberry layer.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
  8. Allow the bars to cool completely in the baking dish before cutting into squares.
  9. Serve and enjoy!
