  1. In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast and sugar in warm water. Let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Make a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil.
  3. Mix until the dough comes together, then knead on a lightly floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Divide the dough into two equal portions. Place one portion back into the mixing bowl and add black sesame paste. Knead until well incorporated.
  5. Place both portions of dough in separate greased bowls, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let them rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  6. Punch down the dough and divide each portion into 6 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball.
  7. Take one ball of each color and flatten them into discs. Stack the discs on top of each other, alternating colors, to create a checkerboard pattern.
  8. Place the stacked discs in a greased baking dish and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  9. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush the rolls with milk and sprinkle sesame seeds on top.
  10. Bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
  11. Remove from the oven and let them cool on a wire rack before serving.
