  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract, orange zest, orange juice, and milk.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Fold in the dried mixed fruit and chopped nuts.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top. Bake for 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Remove from the oven and let the fruitcake cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then, transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  7. Once cooled, dust the top of the fruitcake with powdered sugar before serving.
