Melt the dark chocolate in a heatproof bowl over simmering water.

Slowly pour the hot milk into the egg mixture while whisking continuously.

Gradually add the melted chocolate to the egg mixture, whisking until smooth.

Divide the custard mixture evenly among 4 ramekins.

Place the ramekins in a baking dish and fill the dish with boiling water halfway up the sides of the ramekins.

Bake for 30 minutes or until the custards are set but still slightly wobbly in the center.

Remove the ramekins from the water bath and let them cool to room temperature.

Refrigerate for at least 2 hours or until chilled and set.

Before serving, top each custard with a dollop of whipped cream and sprinkle with chocolate shavings.
