The first chocolate chip cookie was invented by Ruth Graves Wakefield in 1938 when she ran out of baker’s chocolate and substituted it with chopped up semi-sweet chocolate.

  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, mix together the melted butter and granulated sugar until well combined. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk. Mix until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  5. Divide the batter evenly among the prepared muffin cups. Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Remove from the oven and let cool in the muffin tin for 5 minutes. Transfer the muffins to a wire rack to cool completely.
  7. Once cooled, dust with powdered sugar before serving.
