  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Roll out the pie crust and line a deep-dish pie plate.
  3. Peel, core, and slice the apples.
  4. In a large bowl, combine the sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice.
  5. Add the sliced apples to the bowl and toss until well coated.
  6. Pour the apple mixture into the pie crust.
  7. Dot the top of the apple filling with small pieces of butter.
  8. Roll out the remaining pie crust and place it on top of the filling.
  9. Crimp the edges of the crust to seal.
  10. Cut a few slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.
  11. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
  12. Remove from the oven and let cool for at least 30 minutes before serving.
