Ingredients
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
-
In a large bowl, whisk together the whole wheat flour, all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.
-
Cut the unsalted butter into small cubes and add it to the flour mixture. Use your fingertips to rub the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
-
Stir in the chopped dates and chocolate chips.
-
In a separate bowl, whisk together the honey, milk, and vanilla extract. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
-
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead it gently a few times to bring it together. Pat the dough into a circle about 1 inch thick.
-
Use a sharp knife to cut the dough into 8 wedges. Transfer the wedges to the prepared baking sheet.
-
Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until the scones are golden brown.
-
Remove from the oven and let the scones cool on a wire rack for 10 minutes before serving.
