Dark Chocolate Heart Scones with Chocolate Ganache & Toasted Coconut
Ingredients
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
-
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
-
Cut the butter into small cubes and add it to the dry ingredients. Use your fingers or a pastry cutter to rub the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
-
In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg and vanilla extract. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
-
Stir in the dark chocolate chips.
-
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead it a few times to bring it together.
-
Roll out the dough to about 1-inch (5 cm) thickness and use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out scones.
-
Place the scones onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
-
Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the scones are firm to the touch.
-
While the scones are baking, prepare the chocolate ganache by heating the heavy cream in a small saucepan until it starts to steam.
-
Remove from heat and pour over the dark chocolate chips. Let it sit for a minute, then stir until smooth and glossy.
-
Once the scones are cooled, drizzle the chocolate ganache over the top and sprinkle with toasted coconut flakes.
-
Allow the ganache to set for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy!
