Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

In a large bowl, combine the sour cream, cream of chicken soup, ranch seasoning mix, shredded cheddar cheese, melted butter, salt, and black pepper.

Add the frozen hash browns to the bowl and mix until well coated.

Transfer the mixture to a greased casserole dish.

Bake for 45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the casserole is heated through.
