Wash the collard greens thoroughly and remove the tough stems. Chop the leaves into bite-sized pieces.

In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic and cook until softened.

Add the collard greens to the pot and cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Pour in the heavy cream and sprinkle in the nutmeg, salt, and black pepper. Stir well to combine.

Reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and simmer for 20-25 minutes, or until the collard greens are tender.
