Cranberry Bars
Cranberries are native to North America and were used by Native Americans for food, medicine, and dyes.

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x9-inch baking dish.

In a medium bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and granulated sugar. Cut in the unsalted butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

In a separate bowl, beat the egg and vanilla extract. Add the egg mixture to the flour mixture and mix until well combined.

Press two-thirds of the mixture into the bottom of the prepared baking dish.

Spread the cranberry sauce evenly over the crust. Sprinkle the chopped walnuts over the cranberry sauce.

Crumble the remaining flour mixture over the top.

Bake for 30 minutes or until the top is golden brown.

Allow to cool completely in the baking dish.

Once cooled, cut into bars and dust with powdered sugar.
