  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a baking dish with parchment paper.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter. Add the granulated sugar, cocoa powder, and vanilla extract. Mix well.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Gradually add the all-purpose flour and salt. Stir until just combined.
  5. If desired, fold in the walnuts.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  8. Remove from the oven and let it cool in the dish for 30 minutes.
  9. Cut into squares and serve.
