Scones are a traditional British baked good that are often enjoyed with tea.

Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and ground cinnamon.

Cut the cold butter into small cubes and add it to the dry ingredients. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to cut the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.

Stir in the chopped walnuts.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, vanilla extract, and egg. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.

Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead it a few times to bring it together. Pat the dough into a circle about 1 inch (5 cm) thick.

Cut the dough into 8 wedges and transfer them to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the scones are golden brown.

Remove from the oven and let them cool on a wire rack before serving.
