  1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, yeast, salt, and ground cinnamon.
  2. In a small saucepan, heat the milk and butter until the butter is melted. Remove from heat.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk the egg and vanilla extract. Slowly pour the warm milk mixture into the egg mixture, whisking constantly.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
  5. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5 minutes, or until smooth and elastic.
  6. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  7. Punch down the dough and knead in the chocolate chips.
  8. Divide the dough into 12 equal portions and shape each portion into a ball. Place the balls on a greased baking sheet, leaving space between them.
  9. Cover the buns with a damp cloth and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  10. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  11. Bake the buns for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
  12. In a small bowl, mix the powdered sugar, milk, and lemon juice to make the icing.
  13. Once the buns have cooled slightly, pipe a cross shape on top of each bun using the icing.
