Chocolate Leaf Cookies
Chocolate chip cookies were accidentally invented by Ruth Graves Wakefield in 1938 when she ran out of baker’s chocolate and substituted it with chopped chocolate, expecting it to melt and spread throughout the cookie dough. Instead, the chocolate pieces held their shape, creating the first chocolate chip cookies.
This is vegetarian recipe. Dish can be prepared in 60 minutes. Recipe requires some culinary experience (medium difficulty). Number of ingredients: 9.

In a mixing bowl, cream together butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

Add the egg and vanilla extract, and mix well.

In a separate bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing until well combined.

Fold in the dark chocolate chips.

Shape the dough into a disk, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Roll out the chilled dough on a lightly floured surface to about 1/4 inch thickness.

Use leaf-shaped cookie cutters to cut out cookies and place them on the prepared baking sheet.

Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set.

Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
