Chocolate Chunk and Pecan Cookies
Chocolate chip cookies were invented by Ruth Graves Wakefield in 1938. She added chopped chocolate to her cookie dough, expecting the chocolate to melt and create chocolate cookies. However, the chocolate pieces retained their shape, and thus the chocolate chip cookie was born.

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.

Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing until just combined.

Stir in the chocolate chunks and chopped pecans.

Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
