Chocolate Chip, Cherry and Walnut Rugelach

In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, and salt. Cut in the butter and cream cheese until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Add the vanilla extract and mix until the dough comes together.

Divide the dough into 4 equal portions and shape each portion into a disk. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1 hour.

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

On a lightly floured surface, roll out each disk into a 1/8-inch thick circle.

Sprinkle each circle with chocolate chips, dried cherries, and chopped walnuts.

Cut each circle into 8 wedges.

Starting from the wide end, roll up each wedge tightly. Place the rugelach on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Brush each rugelach with beaten egg.

Bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown.

Allow the rugelach to cool on a wire rack.

Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
