Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).

In a medium bowl, mix together the chocolate cookie crumbs and melted butter. Press onto the bottom of a 9 inch springform pan.

In a large bowl, mix cream cheese with sugar until smooth. Blend in vanilla extract and eggs one at a time. Fold in chocolate chips. Pour mixture into crust in the springform pan.

Bake in the preheated oven for 60 minutes. Turn the oven off, and let cake cool in oven with the door closed for 5 to 6 hours; this prevents cracking. Chill in refrigerator until serving.

Before serving, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Remove sides of springform pan, and top cake with whipped cream.
